Orbital Operations Raises $8,8M in Seed Funding – space vehicles powered by hydrogen
Orbital Operations, Long Beach, CA-based Y Combinator startup developing high-thrust orbital vehicles for national security missions, raised $8.8M in Seed funding.
The round was led by Initialized Capital along with major investments from Harpoon Ventures, DTX Ventures, Rebel Fund, TRAC VC, Karman Ventures, Immad Akhund, and other investors.

The company intends to use to expand its team and facilities in Long Beach to demonstrate its engine, cryogenic propellant management system, and continue development in collaboration with national security partners.
Founded by Ben Schleuniger and Ross Doherty, Orbital Operations develops a high thrust space vehicle that will be stationed out in orbit for satellite defense. Its active cooling system will allow the Astraeus vehicle to be stationed out in orbit with liquid hydrogen and oxygen, allowing it to have thrust and efficiency for rapid response.
