UP, Japan sign MoU to boost green hydrogen cooperation
UP-Japan Meet State Energy Minister AK Sharma with Yamanashi Governor Kotaro Nagasaki during a green hydrogen cooperation meeting in Lucknow on Friday.

Lucknow: UP and Japan on Friday stepped up cooperation in green hydrogen, with UPNEDA and the Japanese delegation exchanging an MoU to explore technology collaboration, capacity building and investment opportunities in the emerging clean-energy sector.Energy minister AK Sharma welcomed Yamanashi Governor Kotaro Nagasaki at UPNEDA, where discussions focused on expanding UP-Japan cooperation in green hydrogen, renewable energy and clean technology, besides creating investment-ready projects.The MoU will provide a framework for cooperation across clean-energy value chains, technology innovation and joint initiatives aimed at supporting Uttar Pradesh’s transition towards low-carbon energy. The partnership is also expected to draw on Japan’s technological expertise and Yamanashi’s innovation ecosystem.The engagement assumes significance as UP seeks to develop a stronger ecosystem for green-energy technologies through research, skills and industry linkages. Two Centres of Excellence have already been established at IIT Kanpur and IIT-BHU, providing platforms for research, talent development and technology transfer.Sharma said the partnership would strengthen UP’s clean-energy transition while opening avenues for Japanese technology and investment in the state.
