On the second leg of his investment visit to Japan, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath signed a key agreement with Yamanashi Prefecture to work together on green hydrogen technology and provide technical training to students from the state, Daily News Post reported.
The agreement was signed during the ‘UP Investment Road Show’ in Yamanashi. At the event, the Chief Minister presented Uttar Pradesh as a state ready to attract investment and adopt clean energy solutions. As part of the understanding, students from technical and engineering colleges in Uttar Pradesh will travel to Japan for specialised training in green hydrogen technology.
Green hydrogen is produced using renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power and does not release carbon when used. The partnership aims to support the use of this fuel in sectors such as industry, transport and energy in Uttar Pradesh. The move is in line with India’s broader clean energy goals and its commitment to achieve net zero emissions.
Officials said the agreement will also encourage cooperation in research and innovation between universities and industries in both regions. The partnership is expected to build skills in advanced energy technologies and strengthen ties between India and Japan, creating opportunities for future investment and exchange of knowledge.
The development comes during the Uttar Pradesh government’s outreach in Japan and Singapore, where it has received major investment proposals. The state is promoting green energy, digital development and manufacturing partnerships as part of its efforts to become a major investment destination.
Officials added that details regarding the rollout of the student training programmes and institutional partnerships will be announced in the coming months.
