VIVIFY Technology, based in Delray Beach, Florida, has announced the launch of an independent validation program for its HOG™ hydrogen energy platform. The company says it wants third parties to verify the performance claims it has made, ahead of a data publication planned for 2026. The program is built around the 65 kW nominal turbine test unit that serves as the technical basis for the containerized Flying Pig™ platform, as well as future commercial-scale deployments envisioned by the company.
A measurement protocol covering five areas
The protocol is designed to measure five areas: net energy balance and system efficiency, sustained electrical generation and power quality, hydrogen production and water use, emissions performance, and operational and hydrogen safety. According to VIVIFY, every material energy pathway across the complete system will be measured, rather than a single turbine or component, so that performance is assessed on data rather than assumptions. This external validation approach fits into a sector where several projects are seeking to demonstrate their performance, such as the solar hydrogen pilot project run by PX Group and SoHHytec or the 10 MW hydrogen fueling station designed by Next Hydrogen in British Columbia.
The framework calls for calibrated measurement instruments: revenue-grade electrical metering, calibrated flow and temperature instrumentation, hydrogen-flow verification, water mass accounting, continuous monitoring, thermal inspection, independent physics review, and witnessed testing with a documented chain of custody. The protocol sets a minimum 72-hour continuous operating test, with 30 days of continuous monitoring preferred. VIVIFY says it is drawing on testing standards from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
2026 target and scale-up outlook
“We are not asking anyone to take HOG™ on faith. We are putting the entire system under independent measurement, and we will publish the results,” said Jason Herring, founder and chief executive officer of VIVIFY Technology, quoted in the company’s statement.
VIVIFY intends to publish the validation data in 2026. Initial validation focuses on the 65 kW turbine configuration underlying Flying Pig™, the containerized platform the company aims to scale up, through modular expansion, toward a 1 MW rating. A completed validation program, the company says, would establish an independently measured performance baseline useful for larger-scale deployment, permitting, grid interconnection, and commercialization. The company has not named the third-party body that will conduct the testing at this stage, nor specified the exact site where it will take place.
