Tyczka Hydrogen takes over 5MW production, refuelling site in Hesse | Hydrogen

Germany’s Tyczka Hydrogen has acquired an operational 5MW green hydrogen production, trailer filling, and vehicle refuelling site in the state of Hesse.

The site in Hünfeld-Michelsrombach, developed by renewables firm ABO Energy, has been operating since 2025 and was awarded renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBO) certification by CertifHy.

With both vehicle refuelling and trailer filling capabilities, Tyczka Hydrogen said the site would improve its regional coverage for end customers.

A value for the acquisition has not been disclosed.

Originally funded by €12m ($13.9m) from the German government, the project adds 400 to 600 tonnes of green hydrogen capacity to Tyczka Hydrogen’s network, which includes a 3.2MW production and refuelling site in Austria.

It also acquired two German hydrogen refuelling stations from Switzerland’s MorGen Energy last December.

The subsidiary of industrial gas group Tyczka aims to bring a self-developed 5MW site in Bavaria online this year.

“Together with the hydrogen hub currently under construction in Schweinfurt, operational synergies are emerging in the region that will further increase delivery capacity and security of supply for Tyczka Hydrogen’s customers,” said Managing Director Thomas Zorn.

Zorn previously told H2 View that the company views mobility as a key unlock for wider green hydrogen use by providing incremental growth, while leaning on the group’s LPG refuelling experience.
