GreenH receives EU funding for new hydrogen hub in Rogaland
GreenH has been awarded support from the EU’s Innovation Fund of approximately NOK 600 million for the development of a new hydrogen hub in Rogaland. This paves the way for the establishment of GreenH’s planned hydrogen plant in the region around 2030.
The facility is planned with an electrolysis capacity of 12.5 MW and will be able to produce around five tonnes of green hydrogen per day, with the possibility of further expansion.
The hydrogen will be delivered to maritime transport, local industry, and heavy transport in the region. The location was chosen for its proximity to the main shipping route along the coast, making the project well-suited for bunkering offshore vessels and other shipping traffic.
CEO Morten Solberg Watle, says:
This is an important milestone for GreenH and for the development of green maritime infrastructure in Norway.
”The funding helps reduce risk and allows us to move forward with our plans for a hydrogen hub in Rogaland, with the aim of starting operations around 2030,”
The Rogaland project is part of GreenH’s nationwide effort to build hydrogen infrastructure along the Norwegian coast. Together with the company’s projects in Slagentangen, Kristiansund, Sandnessjøen, Bodø, and Hammerfest, this facility will help build a network for zero-emission shipping.
Watle, says:
If Norway is to succeed with stricter zero-emission requirements for offshore vessels and other maritime transport, the production and availability of hydrogen must be scaled up in line with demand.

The project is among the initiatives that have received support through the EU’s hydrogen initiative to accelerate the transition to zero-emission energy and transport.
