Air Liquide expanding industrial gas production in St. James Parish

ST. JAMES PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Air Liquide, an industrial gas company, is investing $350 million in Louisiana to expand production and infrastructure.

According to Louisiana Economic Development, Air Liquide will add a new Air Separation Unit in St. James Parish at the existing Koch Methanol facility and expand pipeline infrastructure along the Mississippi River. This will deliver oxygen, nitrogen and argon needed for Hyundai-POSCO Louisiana’s steel production.

Commercial operations are expected to begin in 2028, and the company is expected to participate in Louisiana’s Industrial Tax Exemption Program.

Air Liquide has operated in Louisiana for over 60 years. The company maintains 35 locations, employs over 500 people and operates a 500-mile pipeline network.
