GH2 Solar, one of the five companies selected under the government’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for green hydrogen and electrolyser manufacturing, unveiled plans to build an investment pipeline of about ₹1,000 crore by 2026, according to founder and CEO Anurag Jain. The strategic move strengthens GH2 Solar’s role in the clean energy value chain under India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission.
Joint Venture to Boost Electrolyser Manufacturing
As part of this strategy, GH2 Solar has entered into a joint venture with South Korea-based Advanced Hydrogen Energy Solutions (AHES) to establish a state-of-the-art green hydrogen electrolyser manufacturing facility in Piparsewa, Morena district, Madhya Pradesh.
Facility Details and Investment Plan
The upcoming Gwalior facility will start with an annual electrolyser manufacturing capacity of 105 MW, awarded under SECI’s Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) programme. The project is backed by a ₹157.5 crore PLI subsidy.
The total investment in this facility is pegged at ₹400 crore:
*₹100 crore will be deployed in the first phase for a 3 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) assembly line.
*The remaining ₹300 crore will be invested in phases until 2030 to expand electrolyser capacity to 500 MW.
Driving India’s Hydrogen Transition
“The facility will play a critical role in India’s transition from fossil fuels to green hydrogen,” said Jain. “Through global partnerships, we are bringing cutting-edge decarbonisation technologies, while government support enables us to leverage local resources effectively,” he added. Initially, the plant will produce about 0.47 KTPA (kilotonnes per annum) of green hydrogen, scalable up to 1.5 KTPA. The output will target energy-intensive sectors such as steel, fertilisers, and refineries, with potential for export to Europe and East Asia.
Aligned with India’s Green Hydrogen Mission
This initiative aligns with the government’s Green Hydrogen Mission, which aims to:
*Produce 5 million tons per annum (MTPA) of green hydrogen by 2030
*Achieve net-zero emissions by 2070
As reported by etenergyworld.com, GH2 Solar’s investments and partnerships underscore its commitment to accelerating India’s decarbonisation journey while positioning the country as a global leader in green hydrogen technologies.
