The 100MW Hamburg Green Hydrogen Hub is seeking offtakers with “concrete or planned” demand ahead of the project’s expected 2027 commercial launch.
The non-committal expressions of interest (EOI) process is open until November 13.
The launch follows the recent delivery of the project’s final electrolysers, marking a break in the common model of securing offtake prior to execution or reaching financial close.
Many European projects have been completely curtailed before final investment decision based on a lack of solidified offtake demand.
A recognised Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI), the project aims to produce 10,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year for industrial end-users, feeding into a 40km regional hydrogen pipeline.
Run by a consortium featuring Germany-based asset manager Luxcara and Hamburg utility Hamburger Energiewerke it broke ground in late 2025.
