Waaree Clean Energy Solutions, a wholly owned subsidiary of Waaree Energies Ltd., has agreed to support Zero Footprint Industries (ZFI) in expanding green hydrogen production. The companies signed a 2.5 MW Electrolyser-as-a-Service (EAAS) agreement to deploy an alkaline electrolyser system for ZFI’s planned capacity expansion in Uttar Pradesh.

Details of the Electrolyser-as-a-Service Agreement

Under this long-term deal, Waaree will design, engineer, supply, install, commission, own and operate the 2.5 MW alkaline electrolyser system. Waaree will manufacture the unit at its facility in Dungri, Gujarat, and will deliver and commission it in Uttar Pradesh under a 15-year contract.

This electrolyser will produce about 41 lakh normal cubic metres (Nm³) of green hydrogen and roughly 20 lakh Nm³ of green oxygen each year. These outputs will serve ZFI’s industrial customers in sectors such as mentha oil, chemicals, steel and pharmaceuticals, helping them switch from traditional grey hydrogen to cleaner green hydrogen.

Strategic MoU to Expand Capacity to 50 MW

In addition to the EAAS deal, the two companies signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to supply up to 50 MW of electrolysers through the same service model for decentralised green hydrogen projects across northern India.

This expansion is significant, because it could enable faster deployment of green hydrogen infrastructure and support India’s broader net-zero goals.

Broader Industry Context: As per Economic Times

As per the The Economic Times, this collaboration aligns with the growing momentum around green hydrogen production in India. Companies and policymakers are pushing for wider adoption of renewable hydrogen technologies to decarbonise key industries.

Anticipated Timeline and Future Growth

Waaree and ZFI plan to execute the initial project within about seven months. They will deliver the electrolyser stack in the second quarter of FY 2026–27. Commercial operations are set to begin in the third quarter. Over the next five years, the partnership aims to scale capacity significantly, contributing to cleaner energy solutions across multiple industrial zones.
