Topsoe to support green ammonia project in Jordan with engineering deal

Denmark-based Topsoe has signed a front-end engineering and design (FEED) agreement for a green ammonia project being developed by Hynfra at the port of Aqaba, Hydrocarbon Processing reported.

Under the agreement, Topsoe will provide detailed engineering design for the project, including its ammonia synthesis technology. The plant will use Topsoe’s ModuLite platform to convert green hydrogen into ammonia, a system designed for faster deployment and scalable production.

The project, named Jordan Green Ammonia, is being developed as a joint venture between Hynfra and Fidelity Group. It marks Hynfra’s first venture in the Middle East.

The company plans to export the green ammonia to global fertiliser markets, positioning the project as part of the growing international trade in low-carbon fuels.

Green ammonia is emerging as a key solution for reducing emissions in energy-intensive sectors and long-distance transport. It can be shipped using existing infrastructure and used as a fuel, a carrier for hydrogen, and a cleaner alternative in industries such as steel, cement and fertilisers.
