Thor Energy has reported progress at its HY-Range natural hydrogen and helium project in South Australia, with soil geochemistry results identifying hydrogen readings of up to 3% and a seismic survey planned for the fourth quarter of 2026.
Thor holds an 80.2% interest in HY-Range, where the Phase 2 soil sampling programme has helped identify priority areas for further exploration.
The company has appointed Velseis Pty Ltd to conduct a 464 line-kilometre 2D seismic survey. The programme will investigate subsurface structures and help refine potential drilling targets ahead of a decision on an initial drilling programme. The survey is fully funded from existing cash reserves.
Thor is also assessing additional South Australian licences covering natural hydrogen, helium and potential gas storage opportunities, expanding its exploration position in the region.
Alongside its hydrogen and helium activities, Thor retains exposure to copper through its project interests and a shareholding of just over 24% in EnviroCopper Limited, which is progressing in-situ recovery copper projects at Alford West and Kapunda.
The company has also sold its interest in the Molyhil tungsten project as it focuses its portfolio on its South Australian exploration assets.
The planned seismic survey is the next key stage in evaluating HY-Range. Its results are expected to support the identification of drilling targets and inform the company’s next exploration decisions.
Thor Energy PLC (LON:THR) is a leading exploration company focused on natural hydrogen and helium, with a significant footprint in the highly prospective South Australian region.
