Sasol has wrapped up a preliminary assessment of the Boegoebaai green hydrogen and ammonia export venture, which affirmed its robust technical and economic viability. Although Boegoebaai retains strategic significance within Sasol’s asset mix, the firm is adjusting its strategy for green hydrogen development in the Northern Cape.

The company is moving away from concentrating on a single project and instead adopting a region-wide framework aimed at fostering a synchronized green hydrogen ecosystem. This change acknowledges the vastness of the opportunity and the prerequisites for sustained success, such as securing land, grid connectivity, infrastructure, and phased market expansion across various locations.
