Rheinmetall says military demand can commercialise green hydrogen e-fuels | Hydrogen News


Producing green hydrogen e-fuels for defence applications could become both a strategic imperative for Europe and a pathway to commercial scale for the sector.

That was the message from Shena Britzen, Head of Hydrogen Program at German defence manufacturer Rheinmetall at the World Hydrogen Summit.

Britzen argued Europe’s greatest energy-security vulnerability was its concentrated refinery network rather than conventional military threats, which she believes are only going to increase.

“If you look into the capabilities that Ukraine has built today, you can do drone strikes at over 1,500km at less than $300,000 of cost,” she told the event.
