Orica has committed to building a green hydrogen plant in Newcastle costing almost $400 million, in a move that bucks the trend on a fuel that many others are pulling back from amid worries about high production costs.
The world’s largest provider of commercial explosives expects to spend between $245 million and $283 million on the Hunter Valley Hydrogen Hub over the next three years, with another $115 million provided by the federal and NSW governments.
