Ohmium Appoints Mark Griffin Chief Commercial Officer to Lead Global Growth

Ohmium International has appointed hydrogen industry executive Mark Griffin as chief commercial officer, strengthening its leadership team as the company works to convert a global green hydrogen project pipeline exceeding 2 gigawatts into long-term commercial deployments.

Griffin will lead Ohmium’s global sales and marketing organization, overseeing revenue growth, customer acquisition and the expansion of partnerships with project developers, industrial customers and strategic collaborators. His appointment comes as adoption of green hydrogen accelerates across industrial sectors seeking to reduce carbon emissions.

The company said Griffin will play a central role in expanding commercial execution as demand grows for proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzer technology used in green hydrogen production.

Griffin brings more than 20 years of experience across the energy, hydrogen and renewable power sectors. Most recently, he spent five years at ScottishPower leading hydrogen market development and business energy sales. During that time, he led two multi-megawatt green hydrogen projects with a combined value exceeding £220 million. Both projects received government support and were structured around 15-year offtake agreements with customers in the glass manufacturing and distillery industries, replacing natural gas with hydrogen-based high-temperature heat while establishing long-term revenue streams.

Those projects helped develop commercial models for supplying green hydrogen to hard-to-abate industrial sectors and gave Griffin experience in energy transition planning, commercial risk management and long-term customer contracting.

Before joining ScottishPower, Griffin spent more than a decade at BOC UK and Ireland, where he built the company’s industrial fuel cell business into a sustained growth operation. The business delivered approximately 20% annual revenue growth over six years through portfolio repositioning, long-term supply agreements and expanded channel partnerships. He also managed a portfolio of major national accounts focused on clean energy solutions and led Contracts for Difference-style bid strategies that secured multimillion-pound operating subsidies across multiple international markets.

Chief Executive Officer Dr. Markus Tacke said Griffin’s experience delivering large-scale hydrogen projects and managing complex commercial relationships will support Ohmium’s efforts to expand globally as customers increasingly prioritize energy security and decarbonization. Tacke said Griffin’s background in navigating international markets and developing long-term customer partnerships aligns with the company’s growth strategy.

Griffin said the green hydrogen market has reached a point where durable commercial relationships are becoming increasingly important and expressed confidence in Ohmium’s technology, project pipeline and market position. He added that he plans to focus on building customer relationships while emphasizing accountability and collaboration across the commercial organization.

The appointment follows continued expansion of Ohmium’s global development pipeline, which now exceeds 2 GW across projects on three continents. Strengthening commercial leadership is expected to support the company’s efforts to move those projects from development into long-term deployment and customer contracts.

Ohmium designs, manufactures and deploys modular, scalable PEM electrolyzers that produce green hydrogen for industrial, transportation and energy applications. Headquartered in the United States, the company manufactures its systems in India and operates internationally. In 2023, Ohmium raised $250 million in Series C financing led by TPG Rise Climate.
