Ohmium and Hynfra Sign Master Cooperation Agreement for Green Hydrogen in MENA | June 2026 - News and Statistics

Ohmium International Inc. and Hynfra P.S.A. have entered into a master cooperation agreement to develop green hydrogen projects in Mauritania, Jordan, and Oman, the companies announced on June 22, 2026, according to a report by ChemEngOnline.

The agreement covers the Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) stage and sets the framework for ongoing collaboration. Ohmium will provide technical support and PEM electrolyzer expertise during the FEED and development phases for the three projects. The initiatives are designed to produce green hydrogen for green ammonia applications, aiming to enhance energy security and long-term resilience in the host countries by building domestically sourced clean energy capacity and reducing reliance on imported fossil fuels. The projects also plan to supply RFNBO-compliant green ammonia for export, including to European markets.

Ohmium’s chief executive, Dr. Markus Tacke, described the agreement as an important milestone as the company expands into the Middle East and Africa. He noted that Hynfra brings deep expertise and a bold vision for large-scale green hydrogen development, and that together the firms will advance these projects to unlock production at scale. Tacke added that the agreement reflects growing global momentum for green hydrogen and Ohmium’s commitment to playing a key role in that growth.

The Middle East and Africa are emerging as key hubs for green hydrogen, benefiting from abundant renewable resources and proximity to global demand centers. For Mauritania, Jordan, and Oman, developing domestic green hydrogen and green ammonia capacity offers a pathway to energy independence, economic diversification, and greater resilience to global energy price volatility. Ohmium’s modular PEM electrolyzer technology enables rapid deployment and capacity flexibility.

Hynfra’s chief executive, Tomoho Umeda, stated that the company works with multiple technology partners across its green hydrogen and ammonia projects and maintains at least two qualified suppliers for each technology category. He characterized this as a deliberate choice reflecting the complexity of what the company is building, and confirmed that Ohmium is one of its PEM electrolyzer partners.

The cooperation agreement between Hynfra and Ohmium underscores the accelerating global momentum behind green hydrogen as a cornerstone of the energy transition and a critical tool for national energy security. By combining Ohmium’s advanced PEM electrolyzer technology with Hynfra’s project development expertise and regional relationships, the companies are positioned to deliver large-scale green hydrogen and green ammonia solutions that strengthen energy independence across the MENA region.
