NLC India Limited has partnered with Insolare Energy to build a green hydrogen plant. The project uses Ohmium International’s PEM electrolyzers.
The project has an estimated hydrogen production of up to 700 metric tons per year and will support multiple applications across power generation, industrial use, and mobility.
The partnership:
The project combines Ohmium’s equipment with Insolare Energy’s construction and engineering expertise. By linking these electrolyzers to renewable energy, the team will provide NLC India with a clean fuel source that is easy to scale up and cost-effective to run.
Thought leadership:
Dr. Hemanshu Bhatt, COO and Co-Founder, InSolare Energy, said, “Ohmium’s PEM technology and India-based manufacturing align with our vision for local green hydrogen production… Combined with local service support, Ohmium has the right technology to help us create a reliable project.”
Dr. Markus Tacke, CEO, Ohmium International: “InSolare’s proven EPC track record and expertise… are strong complements to our PEM electrolyzer technology. Together, we will deliver an integrated green hydrogen solution for NLC Limited that will accelerate India’s energy transition.”
Scope:
The project represents a critical step for NLC India as it pivots from its traditional lignite-based power generation toward a diversified, renewable-heavy energy mix. By focusing on green hydrogen, the utility is positioning itself at the forefront of India’s energy transition. The multi-application nature of the plant suggests that the produced hydrogen can be utilized for power generation, industrial processes, or mobility, providing a blueprint for other public sector undertakings (PSUs) to follow.
