Motor Oil invests in the future of hydrogen through awareness and educational activities
On the occasion of World Hydrogen Day (October 8), Motor Oil carried out a targeted educational activity at the 1st Primary School of Agioi Theodoroi, in collaboration with the Municipality of Loutraki–Perachora–Agioi Theodoroi, reaffirming its commitment to actively contribute to the promotion of knowledge and awareness around clean energy sources.
Company executives presented to the pupils, in a simple and understandable way, the basic principles of renewable energy sources, the technology of electrolysis, and the role of hydrogen as a zero-emission fuel. Through interactive games and activities, the kids had the opportunity to learn about “hydrogen valleys” and how hydrogen can be utilized in everyday life, contributing to a more sustainable society.
This activity is part of the European project TRIERES, funded by the Horizon Europe / Clean Hydrogen Partnership program, aiming to create a hydrogen valley geographically centered around Motor Oil’s refineries in Agioi Theodoroi, involving industries, businesses, academic and research institutions, technology companies, and local organizations.
This initiative follows another important step for the energy transition: the recent launch of Greece’s first commercial hydrogen station by AVIN, also in Agioi Theodoroi, co-funded by the Connecting Europe Facility – Transport program. The station is currently supplied with green hydrogen from abroad, via Coral Gas, while within the next year Motor Oil is expected to undertake the production of renewable “green” hydrogen itself.
With targeted investments and awareness activities, Motor Oil confirms its strategic role in hydrogen development and the enhancement of the country’s energy transition.
