Morocco advances green hydrogen projects with investor agreements in Rabat

On Thursday, February 5, Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch welcomed representatives of national and international investors in Rabat, in the presence of Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy Chairman and CEO Tarik Ameziane Moufaddal. The investors signed preliminary contracts to reserve land following the selection of their projects by the steering committee, as part of the implementation of Morocco’s Green Hydrogen Offer.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, Akhannouch opened the meeting by commending the efforts made to accommodate the large number of projects proposed by global pioneers and investors in the green hydrogen sector. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the swift and effective rollout of Morocco’s Offer, describing it as a practical and incentive-based framework that covers the entire green hydrogen value chain in the Kingdom.

The Prime Minister stressed that Morocco’s engagement in developing the green hydrogen sector marks a critical step toward achieving energy sovereignty. This ambition, he noted, is underpinned by the country’s abundant and diversified natural resources, its national expertise, and its capacity to forge balanced and effective investment partnerships.

The Prime Minister’s Office further confirmed that the selection of investors planning to implement five new, large-scale structural projects across three southern regions of the Kingdom was carried out using a scientific and transparent methodology. It added that the allocation of public land for these strategic projects is governed by a mechanism designed to ensure both its protection and its proper use.
