The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will hold a briefing session for local governments on the 10th ahead of the selection of next year’s hydrogen city development projects. It will share support directions for local governments that build residential, transportation and industrial infrastructure using hydrogen.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) said on the 8th that it will hold a briefing session on hydrogen city development at the Seoul Science and Technology Convention Center.
The hydrogen city development project is an initiative to build production, transmission, storage and utilization infrastructure so hydrogen can be used for housing, work, transportation and industry. Along with 20 billion won in national funding, it provides consulting by specialized institutions and safety management until completion.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) plans to present project guidelines at this briefing, including policy directions, support criteria and support details for the hydrogen city development project.
The hydrogen city development project began in 2020 with pilot projects in Ulsan, Ansan and Jeonju-Wanju, and is now being actively pursued in a total of 15 cities and counties.
After the briefing, the Hydrogen City Convergence Forum will follow to share the latest technologies related to hydrogen supply and safety, including plans to introduce intelligent power plant operation systems. The Hydrogen City Convergence Forum consists of 156 institutions, including local governments, public corporations, research institutes, corporations and academia, to discuss hydrogen city-related technology development, industry-academic cooperation, legal and institutional improvements, and the spread of adoption.
Choi Byung-gil, head of the Urban Vitality Support Division at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT), said,
We expect the 2027 hydrogen city development project to lead to more efficient hydrogen city development by strengthening standards for hydrogen production and utilization.
