Nottinghamshire MP Michael Payne toured Luxfer Gas Cylinders’ advanced alternative fuel production facility this week – seeing the organisation’s award-winning Multiple Element Gas Container, the G-Stor® Hydrosphere and its multiple OEM vehicle fuel systems – in action.

Discussions focused on the innovative technology solutions Luxfer has developed to support UK operators making the transition to cleaner, greener energy solutions. Topics covered with the Gedling MP included the future of hydrogen, alternative fuels, and opportunities to expand its manufacturing footprint and create jobs, as well as reinforcing the importance of collaboration between industry and policymakers to achieve net zero goals.

Michael’s visit follows a recent address in the House of Commons, where he highlighted Luxfer’s contribution to the burgeoning hydrogen sector.

Speaking in Parliament, he,said:

Luxfer Gas Cylinders in my constituency of Gedling employs more than 200 people, and is a key supplier to Hydrogen Allocation Round 1 (HAR1) projects.

”The business is seeking to expand to become the UK’s only manufacturer of high pressure hydrogen cylinders for hydrogen tube trailers and hydrogen vehicle fuel systems, which are currently imported.”

The meeting comes at a critical point for the hydrogen sector, as it anticipates an updated Hydrogen Strategy from government.  While hydrogen is widely recognised as a key contributor to the UK’s clean energy future, industry leaders are concerned that funding delays are stalling progress.

Steve Jones, Business Director of Alternative Fuels at Luxfer Gas Cylinders, commented:

It’s vital that British businesses are supported through UK-funded projects, so it was a pleasure to welcome Michael to our site to see firsthand how our sustainable transport and mobility solutions can deliver real progress towards decarbonisation.

“Luxfer is proud to be at the forefront of this sector, as a crucial enabler to the pioneering hydrogen projects underway in the UK. We’re ready to deliver the products, services and continual innovation required to meet future demand for clean fuel, and we look forward to greater certainty and commitment from government to maintain momentum.”

It is available in 20 ft and 40 ft configuration.
