Ramtha, Aug. 9 (Petra) — The Faculty of Engineering at Jordan
University of Science and Technology (JUST) held a three-day workshop
titled “Training of Trainers in Green Hydrogen Education” as part of
the “Green Hydrogen Skills for Higher Education in the Mediterranean”
project.
The project is funded by the European Union (EU) through the Erasmus+
Capacity Building in Higher Education program and is being
implemented in cooperation with the Yarmouk University and the
Silesian University of Technology in Poland.
The workshop aimed to strengthen the capacity of faculty members,
laboratory supervisors, technicians, and program and curriculum
coordinators to design and deliver modern and sustainable educational
programs in green hydrogen.
It addressed modern engineering education methods, competency-based
curriculum development, safety and risk management practices, and the
use of artificial intelligence and digital tools in teaching and
learning.
Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Duraid Dalalah, said during
the opening that capacity-building programs and international
cooperation are important to developing engineering education and
strengthening universities’ readiness to keep pace with developments
in sustainable energy.
Project Coordinator at JUST, Dr. Ayman Ababneh, said the project
supports universities in developing specialized green hydrogen
education programs. He noted that the transition to clean energy
requires qualified academic staff capable of preparing engineers with
the knowledge, skills and competencies needed to contribute to the
future hydrogen economy.
The workshop was attended by academics, laboratory supervisors,
technicians, program and curriculum coordinators, and department
heads from several Jordanian universities. It provided an opportunity
to exchange expertise and experiences and review recent practices in
engineering and green hydrogen education.
The sessions were delivered by Dr. Anna Kiljan and Dr. Piotr
Sakiewicz of Silesian University of Technology in Poland. They
presented recent developments in engineering education and approaches
to incorporating green hydrogen topics into academic programs, as
well as laboratory safety practices and the use of digital
technologies and artificial intelligence in education.
The workshop is part of JUST’s efforts to strengthen its capabilities
in sustainable energy and green hydrogen, develop the skills of its
academic and technical staff, and expand international academic
partnerships in priority future fields.
