Jadavpur University (JU), in collaboration with Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), Steel Authority of India and Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan, will establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for green hydrogen research and development after its proposal was selected by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
Four Proposals Selected
The JU led proposal is among four selected by the ministry following a selection process for establishing Centres of Excellence in the green hydrogen sector, according to the university spokesperson.
The centre will focus on research and development in green hydrogen and the development of indigenous technologies. It will also support the objectives of the National Green Hydrogen Mission, which seeks to expand the production, use and export of green hydrogen in India.
The CoE is scheduled to be inaugurated on 30 September at Technology Bhavan on the JU campus in the presence of the DVC chairman and JU vice chancellor.
Industry Links Research
The collaboration brings together the university with organisations from the power, steel and fertiliser sectors for green hydrogen research. The partnership is expected to support research linked to industrial applications while strengthening collaboration between academia and industry.
