In a major step towards advancing India’s clean energy transition, InSolare Energy Ltd, in consortium with SCC Infrastructure Private Limited, has signed Green Ammonia Purchase Agreements (GAPA) with Solar Energy Corporation of India for the supply of 85,000 metric tonnes per annum (MTPA) of green ammonia.
The projects, with a combined investment of approximately ₹3,700 crore (around USD 398 million), have been structured through Special Purpose Vehicles across two locations. The agreements fall under India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission and are aligned with the SIGHT (Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition) scheme aimed at accelerating adoption of green hydrogen derivatives.
Under the agreements, 70,000 MTPA of green ammonia will be supplied to Madhya Bharat Agro Products Limited in Dhule, Maharashtra, while 15,000 MTPA will be delivered to Paradeep Phosphates Limited in Mangalore, Karnataka. The supply arrangements are backed by long-term offtake agreements executed through SECI’s demand aggregation framework over a 10-year period.
The tariff discovered through SECI’s auction mechanism stands at ₹53.05 per kg for the Dhule project and ₹57.65 per kg for the Mangalore project, indicating increasing cost competitiveness of green ammonia in India’s industrial ecosystem.
Supported by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and the Department of Fertilizers, the initiative includes assured offtake and payment security mechanisms designed to enable large-scale deployment of green ammonia in energy-intensive sectors.
Dr Hemanshu Bhatt, Director and CTO of InSolare Energy Ltd., stated that the agreement represents a key milestone in scaling green ammonia adoption, particularly in decarbonising the fertilizer value chain. He noted that the company remains focused on delivering scalable and cost-effective clean energy solutions aligned with national priorities.

The projects are expected to drive industrial decarbonisation, reduce dependence on fossil-based ammonia, and enhance India’s energy security through domestic production of clean fuels. This development further strengthens the consortium’s presence in the emerging green hydrogen and green ammonia ecosystem, reinforcing its role in supporting India’s transition to a low-carbon economy.
