Hystar AS has introduced the Orion, a 20 MW cluster system for large-scale hydrogen production, the company announced on May 21, 2026. According to Hystar, the Orion leverages the firm’s patented technology to deliver high efficiency across its full operating range. The system features an inherently safe architecture designed for consistent performance in demanding industrial settings and can accommodate a variety of project sizes.

The company stated that the Orion is built to enable standardization and faster deployment of large-scale green hydrogen projects. Its modular, cluster-based design combines high efficiency with the ability to scale projects rapidly while lowering both capital and operational expenditures. Each Orion cluster functions independently, which enhances plant flexibility and expands the turn-down range. A skid-mounted configuration simplifies transport and installation, while built-in redundancy maximizes uptime and operational availability.

Hystar noted that the Orion launch follows its collaboration with McDermott on a turnkey 100 MW green hydrogen plant design focused on scalability, flexibility, safety, and cost efficiency. That integrated plant design is intended to provide customers with a ready-to-deploy solution that reduces technical risk, streamlines procurement, and shortens time to market. Hystar said the Orion strengthens its position as a leading technology provider for efficient, cost-effective large-scale green hydrogen production worldwide.
