Honeywell has introduced a new technology platform designed to optimize the production of “green” hydrogen, company officials announced.
Honeywell Protonium
Honeywell officials said that the Honeywell Protonium suite helps address critical challenges when using zero-emission energy sources to produce hydrogen, which can, in turn, be converted to electricity with water vapor as its only emissions.
The platform can help plant design and electrolysis efficiency, as well as address carbon intensity, power intermittency, and cost issues, officials said.
Leveraging AI, Machine Learning
The suite includes a “Concept Design Optimizer,” a “Hydrogen Electrolyser Control System,” and a “Hydrogen Unified Control and Optimizer.” The latter solution, Honeywell officials said, helps streamline operations and energy management across hydrogen plants using AI, machine learning, predictive analytics, and digital twins.
Debuting at Mid-Atlantic Hub
The product is available worldwide but will be implemented first by U.S. hydrogen producer Aternium at its forthcoming Mid-Atlantic Clean Hydrogen Hub — one of seven hydrogen projects picked by the U.S. Energy Department to receive federal assistance.
