Poland’s plans to allocate over €500m ($585m) in subsidies for 343MW of green and low-carbon hydrogen production under the country’s fourth Covid recovery payment have been approved by the EU.
The European Commission signed off the €7.2bn ($8.4m) package, which will also include funding to deploy over 1,000 electric or hydrogen buses.
The funding will be issued to companies to build electrolyser installations at least 20MW in capacity.
Polish development bank BGK signed funding agreements under the programme last October, with state-owned oil and gas firm Orlen winning big.
