Egypt’s National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) will hold a scientific seminar next Wednesday to discuss latest scientific methods for producing green hydrogen using solar energy, as well as investment and environmental opportunities and technical challenges facing the sector.
The one-day seminar, titled “Green Hydrogen from Solar Energy: Opportunities and Challenges in Mitigating the Effects of Climate Change” will be held at the Dr. Mohamed Madour Hall at the Institute’s headquarters in Helwan.
The event will be held under the patronage of NIRAG head Bassem Nabawy and supervised by Ahmed Ghitas, head of the Photovoltaic Research and Solar Energy Unit at the Institute’s Solar Laboratory.
The gathering will feature international participation from academic and research institutions, including Brunel University in Britain and the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, as well as a representative of the British Council in Cairo.
Sessions will discuss the latest scientific approaches to producing green hydrogen using solar energy, investment opportunities and environmental aspects, as well as technical challenges related to its development.
The seminar aims to support the transition towards clean energy sources and international and domestic efforts to mitigate the effects of climate change, the institute said.
Speakers will include Harjit Singh of Brunel University’s College of Engineering in London, Virendra Vijay of the Centre for Development and Technology at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and Oman Deichmann of Brunel University in London, along with a representative of the British Council in Cairo.
