Neoenergia, TEVX and the Federal District Government (GDF) of Brazil have signed a new partnership to introduce the country’s very-first commercial bus powered by green hydrogen into operation.
The vehicle will be used on the Rota Monumental, a civic tourist route offered free of charge.

Launched during an event at the country’s first green hydrogen vehicle refuelling station, which was built by Neoenergia in Taguatinga, the ceremony brought together numerous authorities and representatives from the electricity sector, including Neoenergia’s Commercial Executive Director, David Benavent del Prado, as well as the Secretaries of Tourism, Cristiano Araújo, and Transportation and Mobility, Zeno Gonçalves.

This is an innovative project that combines the appreciation of cultural heritage with sustainability, using a green hydrogen-powered bus.
This initiative reaffirms Brasília’s commitment to the future, positioning the capital as a modern, intelligent destination aligned with the best environmental practices, while at the same time expanding and qualifying the experience for residents and visitors.
The bus, which has been acquired by Neoenergia from TEVX Motors Group, is equipped with a fuel cell that utilises hydrogen gas in reaction with oxygen within the air, generating power to the vehicle. It has the capacity to carry up to 71 passengers – 31 seated and 40 standing – and has an approximate range of 300 kilometres and a refuelling time of approximately 10 to 15 minutes.
All fuel used by the vehicle will be produced at the Neoenergia plant in Taguatinga, with the unit receiving investments of over 30 million R and made possible through the National Electric Energy Agency’s Research, Development and Innovation Program (PDI ANEEL).
Beginning at the TV Tower; the Rota Monumental civic tour will pass by a number of the capital’s main landmarks, such as the National Museum, Cathedral, Esplanade of Ministries, Three Powers Square and National Theatre over the course of its average duration time of 90 minutes. The tour will also stop at the Catedral and Praça dos Três Poderes for tourists to take photos.
