With the firm purpose of consolidating Arequipa as the main national benchmark in energy innovation and sustainable development, the Regional Government of Arequipa held a strategic working roundtable aimed at laying the foundations for the implementation of the future Carbon Neutral Industrial Technological Cluster.
The meeting, driven by the Regional Office of Science, Technology and Innovation, succeeded in bringing together key players from the public and private sectors at the same table. The meeting was attended by Marvin Condori, administrator of GORE Arequipa; Duberly Otazu, manager of the Autonomous Authority of Majes (AUTODEMA); and representatives of investor groups interested in the development of green hydrogen plants in the region.
During the working session, the technical and strategic scope of this ambitious initiative was presented in detail. The central objective of this cluster is to create a state-of-the-art industrial ecosystem that promotes the arrival of clean technologies and guarantees responsible investment, ensuring zero-carbon-emission operations.
The coordination of efforts between the GORE Arequipa offices and the private sector represents a concrete step forward in making this megaproject a reality. The development of this technological space will not only make it possible to host future green hydrogen plants, but will also translate into a direct economic impact for the region, attracting international capital and generating new sources of specialized employment for professionals from Arequipa.
With these advances, the regional administration reaffirms its commitment to providing the necessary conditions for a safe and orderly energy transition, demonstrating that economic development and environmental protection can go hand in hand thanks to science, technology, and innovation.
