Regional Government of Arequipa
In its firm commitment to leading the energy transition and attracting top-level technological development, the Regional Government of Arequipa, through the Regional Office of Science, Technology and Innovation (CTI), held an important working meeting with representatives of the Peruvian Hydrogen Association (H2 Peru) and the British Embassy.
The central objective of this strategic meeting was to coordinate progress related to the governance study of the “Arequipa Hydrogen Hub” project. To date, this key technical document has already reached 70% completion.
This progress is a decisive step, as it will make it possible to lay solid foundations for the comprehensive development of the hydrogen industry in the region. In this way, the Regional Government plans to turn Arequipa into the main hub, both nationally and in Latin America, for the production, export, and industrial use of green hydrogen.
In addition to the technical review of the study, the participating authorities and institutions established coordination for the Hub’s next strategic steps.
Among the most immediate actions are the implementation of pilot projects, as well as the start of negotiations and arrangements with various investors who have already shown a strong interest in betting on Arequipa’s energy potential. With this, the CTI Management reaffirms its collaborative work model to position the region in the eyes of the world.
