ACWA Power and EWA Boost Uzbekistan’s Renewable Energy Skills with Training on Solar, Wind, and Green Hydrogen

In a bid to strengthen Uzbekistan’s renewable energy capabilities, ACWA Power and the Energy and Water Academy (EWA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, organized a one-day training session in Tashkent focused on renewable energy technologies.

The initiative aimed to build local expertise in solar, wind, energy storage, and green hydrogen, aligning with Uzbekistan’s national goals for sustainable energy development. The program saw the active participation of students from the Shirin Energy College, along with engineers, government officials, financiers, and educators.

The session commenced with opening remarks from Dr. John Zaidi, CEO of ACWA Power in Uzbekistan, and Tamer Saud Alsharkhan, Chairman of EWA. The training featured technical modules led by industry experts including José Barragán, Vice President of Technical Services; Manuel Pozo, Executive Director of Solar Energy; Mohammad Iftekhar Ansari, Executive Director of Wind Technologies; Krunal Patel, Director of Energy Storage Systems; and Philip Boustead, Director of Green Hydrogen and Derivatives Technology.

Interactive discussions and networking sessions fostered cross-sector collaboration and encouraged the exchange of technical knowledge among participants.

Through initiatives like this, ACWA Power continues to emphasize human capital development as a cornerstone of its strategy to support Uzbekistan’s transition toward a sustainable and diversified energy future.
