The H2EU+Store consortium, which consists of various European energy companies, has completed a feasibility study for a green hydrogen production project in Western Ukraine. Experts indicate that this region has a unique combination of factors that are favorable for developing hydrogen infrastructure, including significant wind and solar potential, adequate water resources for electrolysis, and access to cross-border gas transportation infrastructure.
The study specifically highlights the roles of the Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk regions, which have been identified as promising locations for the future production of green hydrogen due to their optimal natural conditions, energy potential, and transport accessibility. A land plot in the Lviv region has already been selected for the project’s launch. The initial phase aims to produce approximately 9,000 tons of green hydrogen annually, with the finished product intended for export to Austria and Germany.
