The start of construction makes the Andalusian Green Hydrogen Valley into one of the largest industrial projects currently under construction in Spain.
The first phase of the Andalusian Green Hydrogen Valley — Onuba — is already underway and will have an electrolysis capacity of 300 MW, expandable by an additional 105 MW. With a joint investment of over €1 billion, Onuba will generate an impact equivalent to more than 8,000 direct, indirect, and induced jobs across the entire value chain during the various stages of the project.

A robust ecosystem of partnerships
The Onuba project, led by Moeve with a majority stake (51%), has a solid ownership structure that combines industrial and financial expertise thanks to the inclusion of Hy24—the world’s largest fund specializing in renewable hydrogen—and COFIDES, the Spanish public-private financial institution, as strategic partners. It also includes a joint stake held by Enagás Renovable, one of Europe’s leading developers of renewable gas projects, and Alter Enersun, a company dedicated to developing renewable electricity generation facilities.
A project supported by Europe
This first phase of the Andalusian Green Hydrogen Valley has been recognized by the European Union as a Project of Common Interest (PCI) and has secured funding of €304 million granted by the Government of Spain under the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, financed by the European Union through NextGenerationEU, as part of the support program for Renewable Hydrogen Valleys for the development of 405 MW of the Andalusian Green Hydrogen Valley.
This institutional support is recognition of the project’s strategic contribution to European energy security and industrial competitiveness, as well as the decarbonization of sectors that are difficult to electrify.
