Gujarat State Fertilizers and Chemicals seeks partner for green ammonia plant

Gujarat State Fertilizers and Chemicals (GSFC) is seeking a joint venture (JV) partner to develop a green ammonia plant with an annual capacity of at least 500,000 tonnes at its Sikka complex in Jamnagar, Gujarat. The company is looking for Indian and international investors, strategic partners and consortiums to participate in the project, which is targeted for commissioning before December 2030. The proposed plant will cater to both domestic fertiliser requirements and export markets, particularly Europe, Japan and South Korea.

The project is expected to require 2-3 GW of solar and wind power to produce around 90,000 to 100,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually, which will be used to manufacture green ammonia. GSFC plans to sell around 90 per cent of the plant’s output to domestic and international customers and use the remaining 10 per cent for its own fertiliser operations.

Under the proposed joint venture structure, GSFC may hold up to 51 per cent equity in the project, with the final ownership structure to be decided through discussions with potential partners. The company is seeking a partner to support the development and operation of the plant.
