From October 26-30, 2026, European Hydrogen Week 2026 will be held at the Brussels Expo Exhibition Centre, Belgium, with the theme “Scaling Hydrogen, Strengthening Resilience”. This is the 7th edition of the event, jointly organized by the European Commission (EC), Hydrogen Europe, and the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, aiming to promote the development of the hydrogen market and connect businesses, investors, and policymakers in the clean energy sector.
This year’s event is expected to attract over 220 exhibitors, more than 9,000 visitors, and over 200 speakers representing regulatory agencies, international organizations, associations, businesses, and research institutes operating throughout the hydrogen value chain. The exhibition space will showcase technologies, products, and solutions related to the production, storage, transportation, distribution, and use of hydrogen, while also facilitating trade, investment, and technology transfer connections between international partners.
The European Hydrogen Week 2026 program includes several key activities, most notably the High-Level Policy Conference, the B2B Forum, and the Innovation Forum, taking place on October 27-28. Discussions will focus on refining the policy framework, financial support mechanisms, reducing the cost of clean hydrogen production, boosting market demand, developing infrastructure, and enhancing the competitiveness of the European hydrogen industry. In addition, the event will feature research and innovation activities, an exhibition of EU-funded hydrogen projects, a business networking program, and a site visit to the Port of Antwerp-Bruges on October 29 to learn about the role of seaports in the development of the hydrogen supply chain.
At the dialogues and forums, although highlighting the current decline in hydrogen demand due to some major powers returning to oil, gas, and nuclear energy sources, speakers, scientists , and the business community all expressed confidence in the sustainable value and future of hydrogen.

One of the highlights of the exhibition was the participation of major countries and industrial corporations, showcasing practical hydrogen application solutions. The European Union, Japan , and China remain pioneers in hydrogen development.
At this year’s European Hydrogen Week, Japan continued its role as the guest of honor for the third consecutive year, and the Japanese booth showcased numerous real-life applications of hydrogen.

The Belgian pavilion focused on showcasing hydrogen technologies and projects, while Japan, as a partner nation at this year’s event, promoted its technology and international cooperation in this field. Notably, Toyota presented solutions for applying hydrogen fuel cells in transportation, reflecting the growing trend of hydrogen use in transport and industry. Other exhibition areas also displayed storage equipment, fuel supply systems, and transportation solutions using hydrogen, demonstrating the gradual development and application of hydrogen technology in various fields.

In many European countries, hydrogen is beginning to be used in daily life. For example, Poland has developed the production of hydrogen-powered buses and started hydrogen-powered bus routes. In Poland, depending on the weather, the fuel consumption for a medium-sized bus is about 5 kg of hydrogen per 100 km, and Polish buses have hydrogen tanks with a capacity of about 35 kg of fuel. Because the cost of hydrogen-powered buses is relatively high compared to other energy sources, the Polish government has implemented subsidies and policy support to allow people to buy hydrogen bus tickets at the same price as other public transport.
In another example, Spain has developed a comprehensive set of measures to ensure carbon neutrality, ensuring risk diversification when implementing carbon reduction measures. This includes, for civilian activities, the integration of various energy sources, from electric vehicles and solar-powered vehicles to hydrogen-powered vehicles.

Solutions for hydrogen storage and applications in transportation vehicles such as airplanes and trucks were showcased at the exhibition.
Within the framework of the event, the Vietnamese Trade Office in Belgium and the EU (also covering Luxembourg) organized a dedicated Vietnamese booth for the first time, aiming to promote Vietnam’s hydrogen energy development strategy, introduce investment potential, and strengthen connections with international businesses and investors. This activity contributes to enhancing Vietnam’s presence at one of the important forums of the European hydrogen industry, while expanding opportunities for cooperation in the field of energy transition and green industrial development.
At the booth, the Trade Office focused on introducing Vietnam’s advantages in developing green hydrogen, especially its estimated offshore wind power potential of over 600 GW, its coastline of over 3,000 km, and favorable conditions for developing port and logistics infrastructure to support the production and export of clean energy. According to Vietnam’s Hydrogen Energy Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2050, Vietnam aims for hydrogen production of approximately 100,000-500,000 tons per year by 2030 and 10-20 million tons per year by 2050, contributing to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
Besides introducing policies and development directions, the Trade Office promotes cooperation and investment opportunities in four main areas: hydrogen production from renewable energy and the development of green ammonia; construction of storage, transportation, pipeline, and port infrastructure; hydrogen applications in industrial emission reduction and fuel conversion for transportation; and the development of hydrogen-based technologies in the steel, fertilizer, chemical, cement, and power generation industries. These are areas with the potential to attract capital, technology, and expertise from European businesses.

At European Hydrogen Week 2026, more than 50 European partners showed interest and visited the Vietnamese booth to learn about the Vietnamese hydrogen market and policies. Some partners, already interested in investing and cooperating in hydrogen with Vietnam, were delighted to see Vietnam’s clear and specific directions in the global hydrogen arena, and some partners indicated their willingness to import and distribute Vietnamese hydrogen if Vietnam develops its hydrogen trade.

Participating in the European Hydrogen Week 2026 contributes to promoting green economic cooperation between Vietnam and the EU, in line with the cooperation orientations within the framework of the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP), and the EU’s Global Gateway initiative. Through promotional and networking activities at the event, the Vietnamese Trade Offices in Belgium, Luxembourg, and the EU continue to play a bridging role, supporting international businesses and investors in understanding the market, accessing Vietnamese partners, promoting investment cooperation and technology transfer, aiming towards developing a green hydrogen and clean energy supply chain in the future.
