Patna: The state cabinet on Wednesday approved the Bihar Green Hydrogen Policy, 2026, aimed at promoting renewable energy, reducing carbon emissions and attracting private investment. The policy targets annual production of 10 lakh tonnes of green hydrogen, with potential investment of Rs 16,000 crore and creation of around 12,000 jobs. Bihar Renewable Energy Development Agency has been made the nodal body for the implementation of the policy.After the meeting chaired by CM Samrat Choudhary, cabinet secretariat ACS Arvind Kumar Choudhary said the policy seeks to reduce dependence on imported natural gas and promote green energy in line with the national mission.The cabinet sanctioned Rs 62.52 crore for 30 water cannons and 86 Vajra vehicles for police use in crowd and riot control.It approved Rs 115 crore for a 7-km Tarapur bypass, including land acquisition and utility shifting; Rs 87.63 crore for Dhauni bypass; and Rs 51.22 crore for widening and strengthening a 10-km two-lane stretch of NH-333 in Munger division. Another Rs 82.25 crore was sanctioned for a two-lane down ramp connecting the Mithapur-Mahuli elevated road and Parsa-Sampatchak road.The cabinet approved subsidy for Rs 213.41-crore second-phase project of M/s Utkarsh Sphatik Ltd for Taj City Centre, Patna.It also approved leasing two land parcels in Sabalpur diara and Dujra diara to the Inland Waterways Authority of India for 25 years to develop two world-standard cruise terminals.An MoU between Bihar State Housing Board and NBCC was approved for self-financed redevelopment of the old Sector-6 and Sector-5 colonies at Bahadurpur.The cabinet approved the Mukhyamantri Hemophilia Scheme for 255 patients requiring high-cost treatment, with one vial of the injection costing Rs 39,723.It sanctioned 34 posts each for Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee AI and Computer Science University, Bhagalpur, and Shahid Jubba Sahini Vastukala and Civil Engineering University, Muzaffarpur.It also approved KPMG India Services as consultant for preparing Bihar’s aviation policy at a fee of Rs 86.16 lakh plus applicable taxes.
