The Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority will assess the feasibility of developing a pilot green hydrogen project at the Italian port of Savona.

The Port of Savona, part of the Ports of Genoa network, is located on the Ligurian Sea in the western Mediterranean.
The project partners include Italian energy company Edison, among others. The group plans to develop a technical and economic design for hydrogen production and distribution facilities and identify potential users across shipping and landside logistics.
The port authority has identified a potential site for the project, it said.
But it has not disclosed the planned hydrogen production capacity or specified whether the fuel could be supplied for vessel bunkering.
The agreement between the project partners will run until 31 December 2027, after which they could consider further implementation phases.
