Mauritania and renewable energy developer CWP Global have moved the Aman green hydrogen project forward with a new agreement covering its next phase of development.
The project is progressing through engineering work ahead of a possible final investment decision before 2030. Aman is planned to produce about 1.2 million tons of green hydrogen and 6.6 million metric tons of green ammonia per year.
Its development could also support new industrial activity in Mauritania, particularly in areas linked to iron ore processing and lower-emission steel production. Access to large-scale renewable hydrogen would give the country another option for adding value to its domestic mineral resources.
The latest agreement provides the commercial and development framework for the project as CWP Global and the Mauritanian government continue preparations for implementation.
