Omani logistics provider Asyad has signed a non-binding offtake agreement with state-owned OQ Alternative Energy (OQAE) for 91 tonnes of clean hydrogen annually for its hydrogen trucking programme.
According to Asyad, the term sheet could pave the way for a long-term agreement for supplying a refuelling station in Duqm expected to support 8 to 10 heavy-duty hydrogen trucks daily.
While the firm did not specify the hydrogen source, local publication Muscat Daily said it will come from OQAE’s HyPort, Duqm facility which plans to produce over 50,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year by 2029.

The move targets the Sultanate’s Net-Zero 2050 plans and follows a recent deal between Hyundai and Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology aiming to roll out the country’s first hydrogen-fuelled city buses.
While hydrogen’s use for mobility in the Middle East and Northern Africa region remains early-stage, Oman’s transport sector is looking towards the molecule as the country eyes a production target of 1.5 million tonnes of hydrogen per year by 2030.
The country’s first hydrogen refuelling station was opened in early 2025 by gas and oil giant Shell.
Heavy-duty trucking and public transport continue to emerge as favourable mobility use cases for hydrogen as improvements to the range and recharge times for battery-electric passenger vehicles move focus away from hydrogen in light-duty transport.
