Plug Power will supply a total of 55MW of PEM electrolysers to three UK green hydrogen projects set to secure funding from the country’s first subsidy programme.
The US hydrogen firm said Carlton Power had selected it to supply electrolyser systems to its Trafford, Langage, and Barrow-in-Furness projects, which were all selected for subsidies from the first Hydrogen Allocation Round (HAR1).
Under an equipment supply and long-term service agreement, Plug will provide 30MW of its GenEco electrolysers for the Barrow project, 15MW to Trafford, and 10MW to Langage.
The Barrow plant will supply hydrogen to paper product manufacturer Kimberly-Clarke after it inked an offtake agreement with Carlton to replace volumes of natural gas currently used.
