Clare Harris to lead Tree Energy’s electric natural gas drive

Energy infrastructure company Tree Energy Solutions has appointed Clare Harris as its new chief exeucuitve to lead the growth of its green gas business.

Tree Energy is developing solutions in e-NG, electric natural gas produced from green hydrogen and biogenic CO₂.

Oxford-educated Harris was previously executive director of Dutch clean energy company Power2X and prior to that spent 15 years at Shell.

She said the energy transition “increasingly depends on the ability to build investable, scalable infrastructure that meets the growing need for energy whilst still accelerating decarbonisation”.

She added Tree Energy “has built a uniquely positioned platform with high quality projects serving customers in every major market and exceptional partnerships. I am excited to join the next phase of delivery and scaling to full potential.”

Harris’ appointment comes as TES enters its next phase of growth, focused on advancing a portfolio of projects through final investment decisions.

Electrolyser capacity

The company is currently progressing a platform representing more than 1.5GW of electrolyser capacity serving markets in Europe, North America and Asia.

Tree Energy said the platform, using infrastructure already in place, “brings resilient, flexible, low-carbon energy such as e-NG to customers across markets at the pace and scale needed”.

The company’s co-founder Marco Alverà said: “From the beginning, TES has set out to solve one of the most important challenges in the energy transition: how to decarbonise existing energy systems at scale while strengthening energy security, and we are proving that it can be done.

“Today we have a strong portfolio of projects, world-class partners and a clear path towards delivery.”

He said Harris would bring “a rare combination of strategic vision, capital allocation and execution experience”.
