Lhyfe and STRABAG have signed a co-development partnership agreement for green hydrogen projects in Germany.
Lhyfe said the framework agreement aims to accelerate the development and implementation of hydrogen projects as Germany transposes the Renewable Energy Directive III into national law.
STRABAG added that the partnership combines Lhyfe’s operational expertise in green hydrogen with the construction group’s experience in planning, engineering, financing and infrastructure delivery.
The agreement could be extended to other European countries over time.
Lhyfe said it became Europe’s largest producer of bulk RFNBO hydrogen from water electrolysis in 2025 and currently has four RFNBO-certified production sites installed, with two additional sites under construction.
The company also operates a fleet of more than 80 Type 4 hydrogen containers and around 15 storage sites.
“This framework agreement is an exciting start to our partnership with Lhyfe that will deepen our project development in hydrogen,” said Wolfgang Zechmeister, division manager at STRABAG.
“Green hydrogen is a valuable tool for decarbonising energy-intensive industries.”
“This partnership comes at a decisive moment for the market,” said Luc Graré, chief strategy officer at Lhyfe.
“Combining STRABAG’s industrial and construction expertise with Lhyfe’s experience as Europe’s largest producer of RFNBO hydrogen creates a strong foundation to accelerate project development and execution.”
