Global shipping giant Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha entered a strategic cooperation agreement with Australian energy developer Provaris Energy (ASX:PV1) and Nordic producer Norwegian Hydrogen.
The partnership aims to accelerate the development of a compressed green hydrogen export supply chain connecting Norway to Northern European markets.
Central to the collaboration is the FjordH2 project based in Ørskog, Norway, which features a proposed production and export capacity of up to 40,000 tonnes per annum of green hydrogen.
Under the agreement, the three industrial leaders will focus on refining detailed supply chain cost models, optimising maritime logistics, and establishing long-term charter and financing structures.
The initiative will heavily leverage Provaris’ proprietary transport technologies, specifically its H2Neo compressed hydrogen carriers and H2Leo storage barges, which offer a flexible and cost-competitive solution for regional marine transport.
By integrating “K” LINE’s extensive global shipping expertise and fleet management capability with Norwegian Hydrogen’s expanding Nordic production footprint, the alliance aims to commercialise safe, energy-efficient bulk transport of gaseous hydrogen.
The joint venture marks a critical step forward in addressing Europe’s decarbonisation goals and meeting its substantial import demands for low-carbon energy by 2030.
