Just eight of the original 15 projects selected for subsidies through the EU’s second European Hydrogen Bank (EHB) auction are proceeding to grant agreement negotiations, as the bloc looks to offer funds to reserves.
The second EHB round initially selected 15 green hydrogen projects to secure €992m ($1.17bn) in production subsidies in May, with bids ranging between €0.20 ($0.24) and €0.60 ($0.71) per kilogramme of hydrogen.
After three selected projects, totalling 1.3GW of electrolysis capacity, withdrew from the auction, the EU said it would reallocate EHB funds to reserve projects.
