Even more is possible for entrepreneurs in 2026 with the Hydrogen in Mobility subsidy scheme, SWIM for short. These include subsidies for mobile hydrogen storage, tubetrailers and hydrogen-powered tools. The rules for urban nodes and advances will also become more flexible.
Investors in a partnership will receive up to €12 million in subsidies. This depends on the type of refuelling station and capacity. The subsidy is for, among other things, mobile hydrogen storage, tools to be used in the logistics chain, expansion and/or upgrade of a hydrogen refuelling station for heavy road transport and
purchase of mobile hydrogen carriers, such as tubetrailers (semi-trailer for tanks with high-pressure gases).
Besides the expansion to include tools and mobile hydrogen storage, the priority rule for urban nodes will also change this year. Zero-emission zones are now part of this. In addition, entrepreneurs may apply for another 25 per cent advance after the initial 50 per cent advance. This is only if they have already purchased at least 75 per cent of heavy vehicles.
Entrepreneurs can apply for SWIM from 1 April to 13 May 2026.
