India Moves Closer to 2030 Green Hydrogen Goal with 8,000 TPA Capacity

India commissioned around 8,000 tons per annum (TPA) of green hydrogen production capacity as of February 2026, marking an early step toward the country’s ambitious clean energy goals. The government aims to significantly expand production capacity and position India as a global hub for green hydrogen and clean fuel technologies in the coming decade. Although the current capacity is still modest, it represents the initial phase of India’s large-scale green hydrogen development strategy.

National Green Hydrogen Mission Targets 5 MMT by 2030

Under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, the government has set an ambitious target to produce 5 million metric tonnes (MMT) of green hydrogen annually by 2030.
