New Delhi: In a significant move to deepen India–Japan economic and technological ties, Uttar Pradesh held meaningful deliberations with Mr. Kotaro Nagasaki, Hon. Governor of Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan, culminating in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand collaboration across industry, tourism, vocational education, and clean energy innovation.

The partnership emphasizes Green Hydrogen and technology exchange, aligning with India’s sustainability agenda and Hon. Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji’s vision for a cleaner, energy-independent future. As part of this initiative, IIT Kanpur is being developed as a Centre of Excellence in Green Hydrogen to support research, innovation, and industry adoption in the sector.

Future Engagements:

The Hon. Governor of Yamanashi has proposed to lead a delegation of 200 CEOs to Uttar Pradesh in August 2026, expected to accelerate industrial partnerships and investment momentum.

Invest UP, the state’s dedicated investment facilitation agency, will provide seamless support through its Japan Desk, ensuring scale, speed, and skill integration for Japanese enterprises.

Strategic Significance:

The signing, conducted on a bright and sunny day in Yamanashi, symbolizes clarity and confidence in this growing partnership. The collaboration builds upon shared economic vision, civilizational connect, and mutual commitment to sustainable development and industrial growth.
