Waaree subsidiary signs 15-year deal for 2.5 MW green hydrogen project in Uttar Pradesh

Waaree Energies has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Waaree Clean Energy Solutions, has signed an Electrolyser as a Service Agreement (EAAS) with Zero Footprint Industries for a 2.5 MW electrolyser project in Uttar Pradesh.

The agreement is aimed at supporting Zero Footprint Industries’ expansion of green hydrogen projects in the state. Alongside this deal, both companies have signed a strategic memorandum of understanding to supply up to 50 MW of electrolysers under the EAAS model for decentralised green hydrogen projects across northern India.

Under the 15-year agreement, Waaree Clean Energy Solutions will handle the design, engineering, supply, installation, commissioning, ownership and operation of a 2.5 MW alkaline electrolyser system for Zero Footprint Industries. The equipment will be manufactured at Waaree’s facility in Dungri, Gujarat.

The project is expected to produce about 4.1 million normal cubic metres (Nm³) of green hydrogen and nearly 2 million Nm³ of green oxygen annually under a long-term supply contract of 15 years. The gases will mainly be supplied to Zero Footprint Industries’ existing customers in sectors such as mentha oil, chemicals, steel and pharmaceuticals, helping them shift from grey hydrogen to greener alternatives where viable.

The electrolyser stack is scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of FY27, with commercial operations likely to begin in the third quarter of the same financial year.

Zero Footprint Industries is engaged in supplying green hydrogen, green oxygen and other industrial gases through integrated projects that cover production, purification, compression, storage and distribution. The company has already set up India’s first merchant green hydrogen facility in Uttar Pradesh, with a production capacity of 250 cubic metres per hour.
